Summer and camp go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Summer Camp

Activities: Sports

Sports is both a daily activity and a camp-wide offering in the afternoons after canteen. Sports is an activity offered in the morning for campers who enjoy lots of physical activity and want to play specific kinds of games.  Whether they play kick ball, baseball, soft ball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, or some variation of these time-honored games depends on the skills level of the group, the desire of the majority of the players, and the wisdom of the counselors in charge. The main objectives are having fun, getting lots of exercise, practicing good sportsmanship, and improving skills.

Sports as a camp-wide offering in the afternoons runs the gamut of specific games like capture the flag to camp theme-day based games like Quiddich for Harry Potter Day. Such games are created for the occasion. Depending on the size of the group, we may break into a couple of smaller groups and play two soccer games and offer a yoga class simultaneously. Because we are family-sized camp, we have the flexibility to change our plans on account of the weather and offer a water carnival should it be too hot or to offer an hour of four-square, tetherball, and/or basketball, if the majority should prefer. When we have staff members who are passionate about running, we may have an ongoing running club run at this time.

Whatever sports alternative we decide upon, we concentrate on safety, fun, and keeping the children and staff well hydrated.
